Integrated into the Eastern Stand of the historic Adelaide Oval, Oval Hotel is Australia’s first stadium hotel.
With the structure wrapped around the Adelaide Oval’s Eastern façade, this boutique hotel offers a one-of-a-kind experience. On one side, guests can enjoy the scenic outlook towards St Peter’s Cathedral and the River Torrens, two of East Park Lands inner-city’s landmarks. On the other, they have the opportunities to explore the 53,500-person Adelaide Oval Stadium.
At the entrance, guests are greeted by the uber-cool Oval Hotel sign with focused light emitted from the Shift Out. The sign is a prominent visual feature of the Oval Hotel.
Replacing the conventional long reception counter, the Oval Hotel utilises multiple pods to create a reception using gentle curves. The Particle Downlight provides ambient lighting to maintain a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Meanwhile, recessed under the counter, the bend of the Aeon Flex follows the curved pod design and further accentuates the architectural intent of the “oval.” Not overlooking any detail, Eclipse linear light subtly adds light and life to the door frames and shelving units. The whole reception welcomes the guests and wraps them in comfort and ambiance.
Throughout the corridors, the Particle Downlight guides visitors towards their suites. The Particle provides well-suited illumination with its narrow beam angle and minimal glare — bright enough for navigation but dim enough to maintain the Oval’s solace and enigmatic vibe.
Along with the soft-warm light from the Particle Downlight, the suites utilise neutral tones throughout — grey fabrics to deep, charcoal carpets — creating a sense of calm and comfort for the guests. Atop the bedhead, the Eclipse linear light gently illuminates upwards, creating a light to dark gradient lighting effect that adds depth to the space. The attention to detail and comfortable lighting carries through to bathrooms and wardrobes with more Eclipse linear light to accentuate the design.
The combination of architecture, palette and lighting bring the Oval Hotel to life while the location ensures that the guests can easily access sports and entertainment.
